Paris Hilton says her "life will be over" if she goes to jail, it has been reported.

Paris, who faces up to 90 days in prison if found guilty of violating her DUI probation, has told friends that "doing time" could ruin her career.

A source told Britain's More magazine: "Paris says if she goes to jail, even for just a day, her life will be over.

"She knows she'll lose a lot of work if she gets a reputation as someone who has done time. Her whole career is based on her image and maintaining a fan base - she has nothing else to rely on. She's petrified.

"She's the butt of quite a few jokes in Los Angeles these days and she hates it. She's been crying a lot, especially when she's been drinking, and is scared that her life is falling apart."

The 26-year-old party-lover's image has already been affected by the charges.

The source added: "She's missed two club appearances in the past couple of weeks. People in the industry are taking her less seriously and she doesn't feel like she's Hollywood's Golden Girl any more.

"She's more alone than ever before right now and this could be one situation she can't charm her way out of."

Paris pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was placed on 36 months probation in January.

She was stopped by police in February for driving without her headlights on - and discovered by officers to be driving with a suspended license.

Paris' spokesman Elliot Mintz said she wasn't aware her license had been suspended.

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have gone shopping in a yellow school bus.
'The Simple Life' stars - who have both been charged with Driving Under the Influence in recent months - are acting as camp counsellors for the latest series of their show, but abandoned the kids and took the bus from Camp Shawnee to West Hollywood's Robertson Boulevard.
A source said: "The girls arrived at the Kitson boutique in the big yellow school bus driven by a really hunky driver.
"You would never normally see a school bus driver that hot!
"Paris and Nicole were filming for the show, but happily signed autographs for a group of fans between takes."
Paris, 26, recently pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving after she was stopped for speeding and found to be over the legal blood alcohol level. She claimed she only had one margarita.
The hotel heiress was stopped by police last month for driving without her lights on and now faces further charges as her licence had been suspended because of the reckless driving conviction.
Nicole, 25, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of Driving Under the Influence after she was caught driving on the wrong side of a California highway and told police she had smoked marijuana. Her court hearing is pending.

Paris Hilton reportedly snubbed new lover Josh Henderson's friends after she ditched them to party with her girlfriends. The hotel heiress, who began dating the 'Desperate Housewives' actor last month, visited West Hollywood's Saddle Ranch bar to meet his closest male friends on Saturday night (07.04.07) - but she did not stay for long. A source told gossip website x17online: "Josh picked Paris up and took her out to meet his friends. "But almost as soon as they had arrived she called a car to come and take her to the Republic club where she met up with a bunch of her girlfriends."

Viewers of The Simple Life will, in a yet to be seen episode, witness a 10 minute sequence of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie giving enemas to campers at a health camp run by fitness guru Susan Powter.

"We did it outside, so that was a lot of fun. It probably wasn't that fun for (the campers), but it was definitely interesting. It was something that I never thought I would do before," said Richie. Paris indicated she would rather milk cows.

The pair spoke briefly about how they reconciled their differences. They insist that the feud was blown out of proportion by the media. Neither would say what triggered the rift but rumour says that Hilton caught Richie showing people her sex tape.

Paris Hilton is threatening to sue MTV today if it airs a comedy sketch she filmed mocking her drunk driving arrest. In the clip, the socialite advertises her "What Would Paris Do" bracelets in a fake commercial. She is seen being pulled over by the police for driving under the influence.

When she consults her bracelet and begins to dance with the officer, she is let off by the cop who tells her, "I can't arrest you, you're too fabulous."

The scene was shot on January 4, before her February 27 arrest for driving on a suspended license, which violated a 36-month probation order she was handed after pleading no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving in January. She was originally arrested for driving under the influence last September.

The sketch is so embarrassing for the hotel heiress, her lawyers have demanded MTV scrap the sketch - due to be screened later today.
