Paris Hilton, the US socialite and TV star of The Simple Life, is doing well after her first night in a Los Angeles jail, her lawyer has said.

Richard A Hutton added she would now "reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better".

The socialite has been separated from the main prison population in a special unit that contains 12 cells, each holding two people.

The 3.7m by 2.4m cell has two bunks, a table, a sink, a toilet and a small window.

Only two days before Paris Hilton was to report to serve her 23 day sentence for violation of probation, Hilton’s record label dropped her. A Warner Brothers representative said, "We are not expecting any new Paris Hilton material in the foreseeable future."

The 26-year-old is said to be devastated over Warner Brother’s decision to drop her. The hotel heiress’ debut album was released last year and did not see good sales or reviews. After Warner Brothers invested $250,000 in a video for her single, "Stars are Blind" and a promotional tour, they were said to be disappointed because it brought in less than half a million record sales.

Hilton released her second single "Nothing In This World" which barely landed on the charts, reached only to 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Charts, and only sold 77,000 copies.

"As with global warming and the handgun crisis, future generations will judge us harshly for not preventing Paris Hilton's music career while there was still time," Rob Sheffield, a Rolling Stones critic, said.

The Sheriff adds that aggressive steps were being taken to prevent cameras from being smuggled into the facility.

Troubled socialite Paris Hilton has been dropped from a book on the world's top heiresses, because of her controversial behavior.

In recent years, Hilton has attracted controversy for a number of reasons, including her 2003 sex tape '1 Night In Paris' and her 2006 arrest for drunk driving.

Photographer Roger Moenks was planning to include the hotel heiress alongside Roberta Armani, Dylan Lauren, Allegra Hicks, Nadja Swarovski, Casey Johnson, among others in his book "Inheriting Beauty."

However, following her recent jail sentencing for violating her probation for her drunk driving arrest, Moenks has withdrawn Hilton from the book.

Former best friends and stars of ‘The Simple Life’ Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are reportedly about to end their two year old feud on live TV.

The TV stars and budding pop stars are to appear together on the David Letterman show in September.

Letterman is hoping to play peace maker as he reunites the estranged friends.

Although neither girl had stated publicly why they fell out, rumour has it that Richie played a copy of Paris Hilton’s home made porno at a party; Richie has denied this.

She instead claims that on leaving rehab she did not want to associate with her old circle of friends.

Whatever the caase of the break up, the make up is going to be watched by millions

Nicole Richie's camp has of course denied rumors that the starlet is in rehab for anorexia and drug abuse.

Both the National Enquirer and Star magazine have claimed that super skinny Nicole checked into Beau Mooned facility and is now being treated as an out patient.

Both sources claim to have photographic evidence of Nicole arriving at rehab in her Mercedes with an overnight bag and thoroughly stand by their stories.

However, Nicole's rep has released a statement saying, "She is not in rehab. She is at home in Glendale. Sobriety is an ongoing process but she is sober."

The publicist was clear that Nicole, who has spent time in rehab for heroine addiction and was arrested for a DUI with marijuana in her system in December, is drug free. Whether or not she has an eating disorder has not been discussed.

Nicole has been publicly defensive that she does not have a body image disorder.

The star has significantly shrunk since she found fame on "The Simple Life" as Paris Hilton's wilder, chubbier BFF. Now, a fashion 'icon' in her own right, Nicole is almost half her size.

She has previously sought help with her problem, talking to doctors and nutritionists about why she is unable to gain weight. Since she has not been pictured eating recently, maybe the solution is simply eating something.
